NEW BUYS: SPRING & SUMMER

Updated: Jul 23, 2019

I realized that recently I've been buying some new items, most of which were on sale. I thought I'd share how I style them, and some tips on finding items on sale even if they were just released or are designer.

FREE PEOPLE FRINGE DRESS

I had been looking at this dress for literally a year, trying to think of a reason to buy it and finally, I found one. As a graduation gift, my school always throws the seniors a "Casino Night" party where we go to the country club, play poker, and win prizes. So basically the dress would be perfect for the party, and I had a photoshoot planned for the next week. I was worried about it being long and unflattering because on the website it looks kind of long on the model, and Free People clothes usually run oversized anyways, but it fits really well, and the way the straps tie in the back makes them adjustable. The fringe part on the bottom is so cute and not too much which is good. I bought the dress on Poshmark for half price, and it was new with tags which was a steal. Poshmark is great because you can find clothes that are brand new for way cheaper than online, and a lot of styles that were discontinued are also on it.

LEOPARD SKIRT

Leopard has been everywhere this past season. Literally. Everywhere. I support it though; it makes outfits way more fun. This skirt is from Princess Polly, and a huge tip I have for shopping at Princess Polly is to look up "Princess Polly haul" on Youtube and just chose a random video that's sponsored by them because most of the time the Youtuber links a 20% off promo code in the description box. So basically everything you buy there is on sale; plus Princess Polly isn't too expensive anyways especially if you compare it to Free People or Revolve. I love this skirt because you can wear it to more formal events, and still look stylish which is hard because most of the time I feel like formal clothes all look the same and aren't cute. I know it's hard to tell in the first picture, but that's how I style the skirt pretty much every time I wear it. It looks so good with a dark grey slightly cropped tee, a denim jacket, and white sneakers. If you know me, you've probably seen me in that outfit.

BLACK SWIM SUIT

This is one of the cutest swim suits ever. The one shoulder strap is mesh, so it's a little see through, and then there's the black bandeau underneath. The swim suit is cute because it can either be chic or more casual. I know I'm going to wear it a lot in Europe. Also when I say "Europe," I mean when I'll be studying abroad in London this fall. It's from Free People, and a huge tip I have when shopping there is to wait until the item goes on sale. I know it's hard. But just wait. This swimsuit, top only, was originally around $120 I'm pretty sure, and then it went on sale for around $70, but that is still a lot for just a top. About a week later though they had a sale on sale deal, so I ended up getting it for $40.

WEDGES

These shoes are the one thing that I get the most compliments on. At first they don't seem like much, but the more you look at them the cuter they get. I love the leather mixed with the wood platform and the metal studs. I'm telling you it is crazy the amount of compliments I get. I bought them around Christmas time from Free People, and they were on double sale as usual. These shoes are perfect because you wear them to everything. I wore them to dinner with my friends, but also to my Senior Lunch-In.

PAPER BAG SHORTS

I have been wearing these shorts non-stop since I bought them. They're from Princess Polly, and I originally bought them for my spring break trip. These shorts are the comfiest shorts ever. They have the stretchy paper bag waist band, and are loose on the thigh area. I wear these all the time when shopping or just hanging out with friends.

LEOPARD DRESS

This is one of my favorite new buys even though I haven't worn it yet, but I know exactly how I am going to style it. It's going to be so cute with a pair of white sneakers and light washed oversized jean jacket. It fits kind of like a body-con dress, but a little more loose than one, and it cinches on one side, so you can scrunch it a little and make it shorter or longer. I can't wait to wear it. I got it from South Moon Under which is a super cute beach shop in Delaware. It's a chain and has a website, so don't worry.

ADDIDAS SNEAKERS

These sneakers were the steal of a lifetime. I was shopping at the beach outlet store when I saw them. All the stores were having huge sales, and I ended up getting these shoes for thirty dollars. I love the colors because it's something different than I would normally buy, and it makes me look extra tan. I like buying shoes like this because you can wear them with shorts and a t-shirt or a cute outfit, and they still look good.

LULU LEMON WORKOUT TOP

Recently I've gotten back into yoga full force. I used to do it a lot, but then I got busy and stopped, but with it being summer I have a lot more time now. Honestly, it just makes you feel like you worked out, and gives you something to do when you're bored. I bought this top because I thought it would be good to wear to workout because normally I like to wear sports bras when I run or do yoga, but I don't want to walk around in one in public. Plus, the color is this rusty grey and looks good with tan skin. It's a little cropped which I like because it's not too much, but makes the shirt look more feminine which is hard for a "muscle tank" to do.

NIKE SPORTS BRA

So normally Nike sports bras remind me of my middle school soccer days, but recently they've been stepping their game up. This sports bra is so cute and flattering. I love sports bras that have a ton a criss-cross details, and this one definitely does. The mesh on it adds so much too, and it's super cute when working out or showing through a top.

BLUE LACE DRESS

This dress I got from Saks Off Fifth, and thought it looked like something you'd see on Revolve. This dress is a little out there for me, but I actually liked how girly it is with the lace detail and the light blue color. I thought it would look good with a pair of white chunky sneakers to tone down the "frilliness." This dress was on super sale too. Shopping at Saks Off Fifth is great because it has the name brands, but also up to date fashion. Normally I feel like stores that carry name brands at a discount only have the styles that no one wanted, but Saks has new styles and best sellers which is awesome.

URBAN OUTFITTERS CROPPED SWEATSHIRT

A fun fact about me is that I just bought my first pair of sweatpants. Ever. I know it may seem weird, but I never felt the need to get a pair until now, but dang do those things change your life. It's like wearing blanket around your legs. Anyways, my new sweatpants got me hooked on the athleisure trend, so when I saw this I knew it'd so cute to wear over my gym clothes. I think the cinched waist is different from most sweatshirts. I got this from Urban Outfitters on double sale, per usual.

DENIM SKORT

I have gotten all different reactions to this skirt from it looks like I'm wearing a painting smock to "that's the cutest skort ever." I still think it's really cute, and smock or not the pockets are actually really handy. I got this from Princess Polly about a month ago, and I've worn it so much. I love the frayed edges and how it ties on the side, but beware the tie comes undone really easily. It runs a little big, so I would probably size down one if you're looking to buy it.

PLATFORM SANDALS

These sandals I have had my eyes on for a long time, and I was just waiting for them to go on sale which they did. I thought they would be good in the fall when I'm traveling this fall. I wasn't sure how comfortable they would be, but the platform really helps and there is a lot of padding on the strap and on the shoe which makes it super comfortable.

HYDROFLASK

This is kind of random to include, but I thought I lost my old Hydroflask a few months ago, so I bought this one, and I use it every day. I thought the color was really cool and different plus I like how it has a straw because my old didn't. Having a water bottle with me all days keeps me way more hydrated because half time I start drinking water because I'm bored especially when I'm in school.

PROM DRESS

This is actually my prom dress, but I thought I'd include it because it is super pretty and I actually got it on sale which was a miracle. So I found it on Revolve and it's by the brand LoveShackFancy which is a more expensive brand. Later, I found it on Free People too, and I have a promo code for Free People because they messed up on one of my orders, so they gave me a promo code which was really sweet. Just by using that one promo code I got a few hundred dollars off the dress which was amazing. I love this dress because it is so different from any other dress I found especially from other "prom dresses." The layered fabrics are so pretty, and it has a rough cut to the fabric which gives it more edgy look to this girly dress. It wasn't heavy either which I was worried about, and I didn't feel too "out there" wearing it which was another worry. All in all this will probably be my favorite dress I will have ever bought.

GRADUATION DRESS

The last item in this post is my graduation dress. At first, I wasn't really into this dress; I don't know why. I got it basically because it was on sale, was white, and I needed one quick, but honestly after wearing it, it has become one of my favorites. I love the lace detail, and how Free People can manage to make a dress completely out of lace and still manage to keep it bohemian and not preppy. The tie on the front adds to the boho feel of the dress while the straps with their frill of lace makes it more feminine. I got so many compliments on this dress, and it was super comfortable and comes in more colors. I managed to get it on sale because I found it at Belk. I know it sounds weird to shop at Belk, but that is my number one tip if you love Free People because Belk always has huge racks of Free People all on sale.

Thanks for reading:))
